                                                                             SPORTSMANSHIP

SPORTSMANSHIP is a term universally used when referring to ethical attitude and principals of conduct in connections with athletes and sports in general. Actually, sportsmanship is an attitude or an ideal based upon what is courteous and fair put into action. It demands the contest or game shall be played according to both the letter and spirit of the rules. Basically, sportsmanship requires honesty in play, courtesy in conduct, respect for authority, consideration of others and the acceptance of the results of the contest with restraint in victory and dignity in defeat. It applies to all participants whether they be participating players, participating Coaches or participating spectators.

SPORTSMANSHIP is an uncomplicated attitude or ideal. Attitudes simply are exemplified in behavior. Sportsmanship goes beyond the requirements of agreements, rules, accepted standards and normal procedures.

He Is Just a Little Boy

By Chaplain Bob Fox

He stands at the plate
with his heart pounding fast.
The bases are loaded,
the die has been cast.
Mom and Dad cannot help him,
he stands all alone.
A hit at this moment
would send his team home.
The ball meets the plate,
he swings and he misses.
There's a groan from the crowd,
with some boos and some hisses.
A thoughtless voice cries,
"Strike out the bum."
Tears fill his eyes,
the game's no longer fun.
So open up your heart
and give him a break,
for it's moments like this,
a man you can make.
Please keep this in mind
when you hear someone forget,
He is just a little boy,
and not a man yet.

In conjunction with a local baseball fan who is a chiropractor, my facility is presenting a free seminar regarding youth baseball injuries, specifically regarding pitching. Dr. Daniel Leonard's practice focuses on this realm, and as a former college pitcher, he speaks from experience.

This is the first in a series of youth sports seminars with a wide range of topics, each involving coaching, playing and parenting.

"Adam Kessler and his staff at Fitness Planning Consultants focus on speed training for athletes of all ages.  It goes beyond speed training though.
The training that is needed to develop speed and explosiveness also helps correct muscle imbalances, develop batter/pitching power, and helps
prevent injuries.  Adam has connections in the Central Ohio area, so if you have questions on items beyond speed and sport training such as injury
issues, go to his website to contact him. He also has bunch of articles written on his blog that may be of interest to you.  He has worked with numerous athletes who have gotten to play collegiately including Drew Dosch and Ben Trimbur and he would be more than willing to help you out too.  Adam is a contributing writer to the sport training site Stack.com and has been featured in This Week News, the Columbus Dispatch, Columbus
Business First, Columbus Parent, and Columbus Monthly."

Coaches, Rained OUT ?? Please read this

We all hate rainouts, but this time of year in Ohio, we get those too often.

If your scheduled games get rained out or postponed for any reason, go to your GAME SCHEDULE - Go to the game that was rained out click on Edit Game Details and you can post in the Notes section that the game was rained out or postponed and is to be rescheduled. This way teams can see the status and why you have no pitching for that game posted within 24 hour time limit..

You can also click EDIT GAME DETAILS there and change the date and time once you have the game re-scheduled

David Franco played hs ball at Olentangy and then four years of D1 ball at Miami University where he was teammates with over 25 guys that were drafted. This past February, he launched Next Level Ballplayer.com.

Next Level Ballplayer (http://www.nextlevelballplayer.com/), has since been growing like crazy and been recognized around the country. It's a free website/blog that is geared towards helping aspiring baseball players make it to "the next level" with an emphasis on high school ballplayers that want to play in college.

For some kids the next level is high school varsity, for others it's a college ball, and for others it's professional baseball. Either way, the majority of viewers are current baseball players and coaches looking to improve.

The majority of the content is interviews done with top college coaches as well as big league players, coaches and scouts. Next Level Ballplayer has gotten great feedback from players and coaches all over the country and are continuing its quest to get in front of as many ballplayers as possible.

"The content speaks for itself and I truly believe that any aspiring ballplayer will find the information useful and entertaining." -David Franco
